Active/Adventure: Pulse: Last-Minute Safari
Last-Minute Safari
VirginBush Safaris has some last-minute spots available on one of their September safaris in Tanzania (due to clients dropping out), and the company is offering them at an almost 20% discount ($13,500 per person). The two-week itinerary itinerary includes Selous, the largest protected wilderness reserve on the continent (three times larger than the Serengeti and twice the size of Belgium), where guests are based at freshly renovated Sand River Camp; a visit to Ruaha National Park (animals there include the rare sable, leopards and unparalleled bird life, with some 530 species recorded), and the ultra-private Jongomero Camp; Katavi National Park and a multi-day stay at the Greystoke Chimp Camp in Mahale National Park, where 1,000 wild chimpanzees roam (a group of 80 chimps have been completely habituated to man, so that travelers can approach them within a few feet). The camp is usually booked solid, making this last-minute opportunity even more exciting. Note that no kids under eight are allowed at the Tanzania camps.
