Napa & Sonoma: Where to Stay: Boutique: Milliken Creek Inn & Spa

Milliken Creek Inn & Spa

My night here was so relaxing, probably because the beds are piled with down pillows, the bathrooms include spa-therapy tubs, the spa is just steps away and there’s an adults-only policy. Located on three acres by the Napa River and at the northeast end of the town of Napa, this six-year-old hotel has only twelve rooms. Their soothing cream, khaki and yellow palettes are given a slightly exotic tweak with Chinese armoires or bamboo or rattan furniture. Room 12 is the largest and most private, with a fireplace and a kitchenette. All the luxury rooms have patios and river views, and most have fireplaces. Breakfast is delivered to your room in a picnic basket, and sunset’s magic hour draws guests for complimentary wine from local wineries. Lovebirds can check out the inn’s new guide to romantic activities in Napa (www.millikenpillowtalk.com). Rooms from $325.
