A perennial favorite on a bright and busy corner of the Haut Marais, down the street from Marché des Enfants Rouge, Cafe Charlot offers sun-flooded tables out front and one of those wonderfully chaotic dining rooms where everyone is sitting a little too close and the waiters, sporting Team Charlot T-shirts, are handsome, young and never in a hurry. Come for the classics (croque monsieur, salad chèvre chaud) and linger for the people-watching.
