Back to Global Conversations 2.11: Dr. Barbara Sturm, Skincare Expert

Skincare expert Dr. Barbara Sturm talks with Melissa Biggs Bradley about all things beauty—from her famous platelet-based “blood cream” and the masks and serums that have given her a cult-like following to female entrepreneurs, plus, her tips on how to improve your skincare routine—and look younger longer.

Episode Guide

Can your body become its own fountain of youth? Dr. Barbara Sturm believes that it can and the famous skin cream bearing her name, but made with your own platelets has made her a legend from her home base in Dusseldorf all the way to LA, where she now has a salon and sometimes resides.

Melissa’s daughter actually introduced her to Dr. Sturm’s creams, serums, masks, and more a while back. And she admits that she was initially a little skeptical when she found out that it was Kim Kardashian who had spread the word about Sturm’s so-called vampire facial, but the science behinds Sturm’s approach, and that is used in her products makes a lot of sense.

Listen to Sturm for five minutes, and you’ll hear a skincare guru who, yes has celebrity endorsements, but is first and foremost, a passionate working scientist whose innovations represent a fascinating and disruptive force in the often traditional beauty industry.
