Back to Global Conversations 2.07: Patricia Schultz, Author (Part 2 of 2)

1,000 Places to See Before You Die author Patricia Schultz continues her conversation with Melissa Biggs Bradley about the benefits of going solo, how female travelers can stay safe, her favorite places at home and abroad, why there’s no downside to travel—canceled flights, lost passports and all—what it will look like once we can go more freely again, where she (and we) will be going and more. (Part 2 of 2)

Episode Guide

Here we’re sharing the remainder of Melissa’s conversation with travel super-writer Patricia Shultz, author of 1000 Places to See Before You Die, whose advice about travel has long been don’t wait to create memories, don’t postpone travel dreams—make those memories happen.  She has especially exhorted women to not wait for perfect opportunities or traveling companions and to get out and go—on their own if need be. Patricia herself is the best example of charting your own course in the world; she was a small-town girl whose family’s biggest adventure was to the Jersey Shore—until she started traveling, on her own, at age 15.  And without any background or education in publishing, she made herself into a travel writer a few years later.  Patricia and Melissa also talk about her advice post-Covid, her hopes for the future of travel, what’s still on her bucket list, and more.
