Almost otherworldly in its dramatic beauty, Santorini is all about the simple pleasures of summer in Greece: sun, sand and the obligatory evening aperitif. The Aegean island is a caldera, with steep cliffs and towns dotting the upper ridge. Its unique C-shaped crater is the result of the second-largest volcanic eruption in world history, which took place 3,600 years ago. It is widely believed that this event is the source for the legend of Atlantis. True or not, Santorini has an undeniable air of mystery that enhances its idyllic charm.

Designing Your Journey
Work with Indagare to design the perfect itinerary for an immersive journey. Our travel experts know the destination inside and out, and they can make recommendations based on your travel needs and preferences.
5 Days: Essential Santorini
Experience adventure and relaxation with this curated Santorini itinerary highlighting the island and the waters surrounding it. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1-2: Rest & Relax
On your first two days in Santorini, relax at your hotel and acclimate to the slow pace of Greek life, with days spent reading poolside with fresh alfresco lunches of seafood just caught that morning, tomato and cucumber salad drizzled in olive oil and oregano, wood-oven baked pita with homemade hummus, greek fries and crisp, dry white wines. Enjoy the dramatic caldera views and orange-hued sunsets, hikes along the rim of the caldera and meals at the many esteemed restaurants in Oia town.
Day 3: Explore by Boat
Depart from your hotel to Amoudi Bay, a bustling harbor known for its classic tavernas and fishing boats bobbing in the water. Here, either stop for lunch at one of the charming restaurants or board your boat charter for a day on the water (and lunch prepared by the onboard chef). Your captain will bring you to the island’s beautiful red-, white- and black-sand beaches, as well as many hidden coves ideal for snorkeling and swimming. You can also rent a car or ATV or hire a driver to explore Santorini’s diverse topography. Return at sunset, so you can enjoy the views with a cocktail in hand.
Day 4-5: Soak Up Santorini
Begin the day at a beach club, where you can spend a few hours relaxing in the sun or partaking in water sports. Then, visit the ancient ruins at Akrotiri with a guide, with an optional stop in the touristy town of Fira. Spend your last full day enjoying the coastal scenery. In the afternoon, visit one of Santorini’s many esteemed wineries, or opt for a special experience, like a cooking class with a local chef or an artisan tour, which will include a jewelry atelier and the gallery of a local painter.
