5 Days: Essential Amalfi Coast
Experience the best of this stunning coastline with this customized, five-day itinerary that balances solo exploration with guided touring, special access, private boat charters, day trips and more. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1-2: Positano
Check-in to your hotel in Positano and spend the rest of the day enjoying the coast’s glorious panoramas and relax either at your hotel’s beach club or at another popular favorite, where you can indulge in a languorous lunch. You can also visit Positano’s majolica-tiled dome of Santa Maria Assunta before wandering through the town’s compact yet vibrant center with an expert guide.
Day 3: Day Trip to Pompeii
Today, visit the partially buried Pompeii with a guide who can put the history in context. The iconic sight was destroyed and completely buried during the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. It was lost for nearly 1,700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Well-preserved under volcanic ash, it offers a detailed look at the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire.
Day 4-5: Positano to Ravello
Today head to Ravello, a picturesque hilltop town located an hour’s drive from Positano. Arrive in Ravello in the late afternoon and enjoy a casual dinner in town. Spend the rest of relaxing coast-side, enjoying long days and wine filled evenings at the area’s best beach clubs and hillside restaurants. You may also opt to tour the region’s stunning villas or take a cooking class that Indagare can arrange with an expert chef.
Where To Stay
We only feature hotels that we can vouch for first-hand. At many of them, Indagare members receive special amenities, including upgrades, early check-in, breakfast, spa credits and more. Look for the Indagare Plus logo in the reviews.
