As swish but not as tourist-centric as Dubai, Abu Dhabi is the UAE’s government and financial capital. For North American travelers, however, the city is equally as well-known as the major international hub for Etihad airlines, which is a preferred route for many to not only the Middle East but also Africa and parts of Asia.

    3 Days: Essential Abu Dhabi

As Abu Dhabi grows and introduces new and exciting offerings, many travelers are extending their layover (which Etihad offers, free of charge) and spending a night or two in the city en route to their final destination. But the mega-city should be visited with a customized itinerary and a private guide who can share an insider look. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day One:

Indagare will arrange a pick-up from Abu Dhabi international airport for the two-hour transfer to Qasr al Sarab, a mirage palace resort located in the Empty Quarter desert and close to the Saudi Arabia border. Relax with a massage in the fabulous spa and in your villa with private infinity pool overlooking the sand dunes and enjoy dinner in one of the resort’s excellent restaurants.

    • Day Two:

Rise before the sun this morning to go dune bashing with a professional driver in a specially formatted Land Cruiser and stop to watch the sun rise while sipping tea. Return to the property for breakfast then transfer back to Abu Dhabi (your car will have wifi access). Visit the Sheikh Zayed mosque complex with a private guide and then spend the hottest hours of the afternoon in the new Louvre outpost, located on Saadiyat Island.

    • Day Three:

Shoppers may visit one of the multiple souks or malls in the city this morning and families with children (or those who are young at heart) might want to check out the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, home to the world’s fastest roller coaster. Indagare will arrange for your transfer back to the airport in time for your flight continuation.

Abu Dhabi is a terrific vacation for kids. Yas Waterworld and the Louvre are both must-visits, and while we didn't get to Ferrari World, we've heard great things!

“There is a growing arts scene in Abu Dhabi and an overall sense that this city is about to really come into its own. Plus, the contemporary architecture is breathtaking. It seems each building is trying to outdo one another with cool factor.”
