A special island camp in the Okavango Delta, Little Vumbura can only be reached by boat, giving it a remote, hideaway feeling. Crossing the floodplains of the Delta, guests arrive at a long boardwalk, which leads through the reeds to a main platform deck with tented areas for lounging and dining.
A beachlovers’ aesthetic reigns with big white comfy couches with blue and white striped pillows and bowls full of blue seaglass. The six tents and communal areas feel almost tropical in their beachy island design, but all around is the game-rich Vumbura Concession, 60,000 hectares (180,000 acres) of acacia woodlands, floodplains and swamp filled with enormously diverse wildlife. Many of Little Vumbura guests are repeaters who love the relaxed island-time laziness in the rhythm of the days, as they mix game drives or boat rides with lounging by the small pool and enjoy mingling with other guests during communal meals. The staff pampers guests bringing cool towels and drinks and setting up surprise sundowners, and so the secret of this beach house in the Delta is getting out.
