Postcard from Morocco: Our Favorite Moments from Our Travels

This fall, four Indagare staffers Wellesley Lowther, Grace Park, Alex Schulte and Kathryn Boswell explored some of our favorite spots in Morocco, including Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains, Fes and Skoura. When they weren't scouting shops, restaurants and touring options, they checked out hotels including The Oberoi, Hotel Sahrai and Amanjena and checked in at top properties like Dar Ahlam, Kasbah Tamadot, La Mamounia and Villa des Orangers. Here, they share a selection of photos from their trip and their favorite moments!

"With temperatures exceeding 100 degrees and the rest of the world seeming so far away beyond the walls of the property, I did not expect to be able to go on a hike—especially not a hike through three different landscapes. But at Dar Ahlam, it is all about fulfilling the guests' wishes, so as requested, we were whisked away on a hike through fields of crops, then to a hidden valley followed by (finally), desert terrain. The peaceful silence and the changing landscapes made this a memory I will never forget." — Indagare's Wellsley Lowther

"The camel ride at Inara camp was such a special and wonderful surprise. One of my goals on this trip was to ride a camel, but after nearly a week in Morocco and with our tight schedule, I didn’t think it would be possible. I was happily surprised when we arrived at Inara Camp for a site visit and they offered us the opportunity to ride camels—I can only imagine how breathtaking it would be to experience a ride at sunset!" — Alex Schulte

"A stand-out moment was stopping on the side of the road for a Honey and Amlou tasting en route to Dar Ahlam—a wonderful way to break up the the long drive from Marrakech to Skoura. The Berber people are known for their honey, which is sometimes flavored (we tasted several varieties, but my favorite was the Thyme-infused honey!). Amlou is Morocco’s version of almond butter and is mixed with local honey for the perfect nut butter bite. There is nothing quite like a honey-tasting on the side of the Atlas Mountains! Memorable for sure." —Kathryn Boswell

"I'll never forget the morning sidecar tour through Marrakech as all the shops were opening up. Winding through alleyways is an incredible way to experience the city in a new way. Our guides stopped every five to 10 minutes at more obscure sites we never would have seen with a driver or on foot. This would be a must for anyone into motorcycles or fans of Jason Bourne!" — Grace ParkMore photos from the trip:
