Shop: Indagare Safari Jacket

Indagare's safari jackets bring together fashion, travel and positive change. They were inspired by our Insider Journey to Rwanda last September when we met Joselyne Umutoniwase, an innovative designer, who teamed up with us to create a stylish travel jacket. On that same trip, we were lucky to spend time with some of the incredible students of Gashora Girls Academy, so we decided to dedicate a portion of sales from the jackets to funding their education. Women leaders have been a key to the incredible rebirth of Rwanda, and we want to support and celebrate them.

Each jacket costs $298 (plus shipping), with $50 benefiting the Gashora Girls Academy, a science and technology secondary school where 95% of the students go on to university. These girls are the future of Rwanda, and they take that opportunity and privilege seriously.

Since I received the first jacket Joselyne created for me, the navy one with orange parrots, I have test driven it on my travels to Bolivia, Egypt and Peru (see below). The weight works in hot climates with only a t-shirt or in cold temperatures with sweaters or even a down jacket underneath. It has lots of pockets for passports, phone, sunglasses etc and wears well with few wrinkles. In fact, I now also have the khaki cotton and linen army green ones. They are practical, fashionable and empower the next generation, so buy one for your travels or to give to a traveler.
