Experience one of the most intimate wildlife experiences in East Africa on this incredible eight-day discovery of Rwanda and its endangered mountain gorilla population.
What to Expect
Although most travelers are drawn to this land-locked African country to see the endangered mountain gorillas—a wildlife experience that is truly unlike any other—it is the resilient spirit of the Rwandan people and the beauty of the country’s landscapes that leave travelers with a sense of awe and a vow to return. In the words of Indagare founder Melissa Biggs Bradley: “Go see for yourself how a country can rebuild after a massacre; you cannot help but feel hope for humanity.”
This packaged itinerary combines the best of our destination expertise, insider intel and special access—while allowing for flexibility and customization—to offer you an effortless and rewarding way to explore the world, starting with Rwanda.
On this eight-day adventure, you will get to explore Rwanda’s incredible ecosystems with local naturalists and conservationists on an exciting canopy walk and other safari excursions (with the chance to see Big Five game)—and most exciting of all, you will venture out on three treks to see the endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and chimpanzees in the magnificent Virunga peaks and the rainforests of Nyungwe National Park.
You will also spend time touring in the growing urban center of Kigali with local experts, including visits to the Genocide Memorial Center and Inema Arts Center. Those who are interested can also visit local communities to learn about traditional ways of rural life in Rwanda, as well as such essential conservation initiatives as anti-poaching units.
Along the way, you will relax at two beautiful eco-luxury lodges that offer a variety of immersive wilderness and cultural activities—including traditional game drives, guided nature walks, birding and more—as well as pampering amenities: One&Only Gorilla’s Nest Lodge (3 nights) and One&Only Nyungwe House (3 nights).
