Review
Opened in 2012, this takeover-only property comprises four bedrooms: two in the main house and two guest cottages on either side, plus a large outdoor deck area with an infinity pool that overlooks the vast plains of the Serengeti. Interiors are understated with an array of beige, white and blue furnishings and white-washed walls that give the large estate a cozy cottage feel. East African art and artifacts offer a strong sense of place, while large paintings of roaming elephants, grooming buffalo, and close ups of zebra herds hung throughout the rooms immerse you in the safari experience.
Each of the four bedrooms comes with its own en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower, including an expansive his-and-hers bathrooms off the Master Suite. There is truly no creature comfort that is spared. A full media room with air conditioning, a surround system, and an international phone line sits off the main living area and has several computers for those who want to take advantage of remote working over an extended stay.
Mornings at Serengeti House are spent on game drives, followed by lazy afternoons by the pool and evenings by the fire pit on the back deck before your gourmet, chef-prepared dinner. While there is a team of chefs and waitstaff on standby to prepare your meals, cooking classes can also be arranged, as well as full access to the kitchen itself for those who like to make their own breakfast or coffee in the morning. For guests wanting a change of scenery, you’re also welcome to dine at any of the surrounding Singita properties in the Grumeti.
As with all Singita properties, the service is impeccable. Personal trainers are available in the property’s gym and tennis lessons can be scheduled at the on-site court. And from massages in the spa tent to potential game viewing straight from the back deck, you are unlikely to find yourself wanting.
