On the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls, the Elephant Camp offers an intimate luxury tented experience overlooking the Batoka Gorge and rests about five miles from the Falls. The camp is known for offering guests intimate interactions with elephants, thanks to the sanctuary next door that houses several rescued and re-habituated elephants. Guests of the camp can feed and spend time with the lumbering animals. Elephant Camp also offers game drives in a private concession and activities around the Falls such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping and helicopter rides, as well as on-property activities like bush walks with the resident cheetah, Sylvester.
Elephant Camp has 12 elegant tents with large bathrooms, private decks with plunge pools and views of the surrounding wilderness. The décor has a traditional feel, with mahogany four-poster beds, dark wicker furniture and luxurious sheets. An extension of the main resort, Elephant Camp West is a facility with four tents that is ideal for families or a small group. It features the same design aesthetic as the main camp and boasts a lounge area, pool, kitchen and dining area. Guests of either camp can enjoy spa treatments in the privacy of their suites, and meals highlight regional dishes made with ingredients grown in the onsite garden.
Who Should Stay
Families and travelers looking to visit Victoria Falls and stay at a property on the Zimbabwean side (which provides better views than the Zambian one from October to December) that also offers game drives and wildlife tours. Those who prefer a higher-end experience may be happier at the Victoria Falls Hotel.
