Tiger Cave Temple

Krabi Noi Mueang Krabi District

Set in a scenic forest, Tiger Cave Temple is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Krabi Province. The temple was founded in 1975 by Abbot Luang Por Chamnean Srilasatheto who climbed the mountain in search of a cave he could use to meditate. According to legend, a tiger entered the cave but did not harm him. A strenuous 1,237-step climb to the shrine atop the mountain is rewarded with panoramic views of Krabi. While there are no longer any tigers in this forest, there are monkeys, so be sure to keep any snacks zipped away and out of sight. This excursion pairs well with a trip to the Emerald Crystal Lagoon.
