Review

In the heart of Saigon, this sophisticated oasis boasts elegant hotel rooms, a tranquil spa and buzzy dining offerings. Decorated with the owner’s personal collection of art and antiques, the hotel is both museum-like and supremely comfortable. An oasis within the city, Hotel des Arts offers 168 rooms and suites, which are designed with clean lines, a cream-colored palette and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Saigon’s city skyline. Indagare tip: Since the rooms and suites are on the smaller side, guests should opt for an executive level room, which grants access to the Sky Lounge with spectacular city views and all-day refreshments.

The hotel’s dining program is revered in the city, with three restaurants and easy access via a skywalk to Shri, the rooftop restaurant that sits next door. The sleek and convivial Saigon Kitchen serves a bountiful breakfast and lunch buffet and offers a variety of Vietnamese, Asian and Western dishes at dinner, ranging from pho soup, traditional congee and sushi to burgers, tagliatelle pasta and lobster. The Social Club restaurant, situated on the 23rd floor, offers one of the city’s premiere dining experiences, serving exquisite French-inspired, Vietnamese fare. Begin with seared foie gras with marinated pineapple or steamed bao buns with spiced lamb, before French duck breast or lobster salad with mango and Vietnamese basil. The luxurious dining room is designed to evoke a private club, with wood-paneled walls, plush armchairs, artfully displayed Asian antiques and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city below. The Social Club’s rooftop bar, set next to the infinity pool, is a panoramic spot for sparkling city views, creative cocktails and Asian tapas.

The hotel also houses a spa with six treatment rooms and a full fitness center, as well as a rooftop infinity pool—the highest in the city.

Who Should Stay

Art aficionados and couples looking for a sophisticated and serene hotel in the heart of Saigon. The rooms here are on the smaller side, so those who need sprawling suites should stay elsewhere.
