Few destinations are as dramatic as Chile: Salt flats meet snow-capped mountains, and vast deserts give way to sandy beaches and the sun-soaked metropolis of modern Santiago.

Itineraries We Love

We believe that itineraries need to be personalized, and can work for anyone from honeymooners and adventurers to families and multi-gen groups as long as they are tailored to your interests. Here are some of our favorites; many more can be created by our expert team.

  • Chile-IconicChile-LP

    Iconic Chile

This itinerary allows guests to experience Chile’s best of the best, insuring a great mix of the country’s northern deserts, southern glaciers and the best of what lies in between.

    • When to Go

The best time to travel to Chile is from November–March, with January being the warmest month and July being the coldest.

    • Ideal Length of Stay

      9-14 days

    • Itinerary Highlights

Santiago and Valparaíso exploration, followed by larger-than-life outdoor adventures in the Atacama Desert, Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine National Park.

    • Day 1-2

Explore Santiago’s most interesting neighborhoods, including the historic Mercado Central, and visit Pablo Neruda’s beloved home. Alternatively, head west and spend a day exploring Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, a vibrant seaport with distinctive hills clad in rainbow-colored Victorian mansions. On the way back to Santiago, stop for a tasting of Pinots and Syrahs at one of our favorite wineries in the Casablanca Valley.

    • Day 3-6

Enjoy several days in the Atacama Desert, Chile’s northern desertscape. Explore by day and by night (as one of the highest and driest deserts on earth, it is the ultimate destination for stargazing). Take time to acclimatize before tackling the most strenuous hikes; the oasis of San Pedro, where lodges are concentrated, sits at 8,000 feet, and many excursions reach altitudes exceeding 15,000 feet. Those who prefer a gentler pace can take in the prodigious sand dunes on foot or by mountain bike or horseback, or head to hidden hot springs for a restorative soak.

    • Day 7-12

Those who have time can break up the long journey to Torres del Paine with a couple of nights in Puerto Natales. The town’s unique location on the shores of the Last Hope Sound is ideal for trout and salmon fishing, sailing past sea lion colonies and kayaking through scenic fjords. Next, move on to Torres del Paine National Park, which offers top-knotch hiking excursions, many of which afford awe-inspiring views of its namesake granite massif and the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Gallop along turquoise lakes, stopping to sip mate with the gauchos, observe a glacier—and its repository of calved icebergs—at close range or explore the steppe with an expert naturalist.

    • Day 13-14

There’s no better reward than time in the wine country at the end of an ambitious journey filled with long flights and adrenaline-fueled treks. Thanks to the long-awaited opening of Viña VIK, Chile’s Colchagua Valley, long prized for its full-bodied Carmenère, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, has now become an irresistible finale to just about any Chilean adventure.
