Between the destination restaurants of grilling hero Francis Mallmann (half of his empire is now located here) and the rise of the multi-course winery lunch, there is plenty of sophisticated fare to soak up Mendoza’s storied Malbecs. Argentina is world-renowned for sirloin and sweetbreads, and Mendoza is no exception, but the province is also an agricultural powerhouse, and chefs are eager to highlight its annual bounty of peaches, olives, cherries and quince. Some of the region’s most worthwhile restaurants are also the most far-flung, so it’s important to double check driving times prior to setting out.
