Mercado Municipal

The best urban market in South America, nicknamed "Mercadão" ("Big Market"), is a Belle Époque beauty of Russian-designed stained glass and vast domes opened in 1933. Inside are rows and rows of mostly gourmet food-related products: Fresh fish, meat and game; and several worthwhile snack stalls, bars and sit-down restaurants.
