Älpele
A cozy spot on snowy days, Älpele is perfect for lunch for cross-country skiers and walkers. Located about four miles outside Lech on the marked trail and a little under two miles after the village of Zug, the hideout serves some of the best hot chocolate in the area. For dinner, the restaurant can be reached by snowmobile or horse-drawn sled.
Alter Goldener Berg
The Goldener Berg is a cozy spot for homemade glühwein (mulled wine) as well as fondue and Austrian specialties. Request a table in the old part of the building; the restaurant’s stübli dates back to 1340.
Arlberg Hospiz Alm
Now that it is easy to ski to St. Anton and St. Christoph via gondolas, a great, fun ski day from Lech or Zurs includes a lunch reservation at this super stylish restaurant with a focus on food and wine in St. Christoph. There is a more casual terrace but also a restaurant with three toques from Gault Millau, and wine lovers will be really impressed by the sleek wine cellar.
Flexenhäusl
This charming mountain restaurant in Zürs is great for a scenic lunch. Take the Muggengrat chairlift and ski the scenic Zürsertali run down to the restaurant.
Klösterle
Recommended for fondue and other delicacies, the Klösterle in Zug is owned by Hannelore Schneider of the Almhof Schneider. It’s a delightful spot to stop by in the afternoon after a romantic stroll or cross-country ski for savoring homemade Austrian delicacies. Klösterle opens at 2pm, so skiers can swing by midday for a hot chocolate and Austrian pastry and for fondue at night. (To reach the restaurant, ski down from Kriegerhorn in Lech on the Steinmähder run – at the bottom is a valley at the end of which is Klosterle). It’s best to book early because the small, popular spot is always busy.
Kriegeralpe
This lively hot spot on top of the mountain is perfect for an afternoon apéritif before skiing home on empty slopes as the sun sets. To get there, take the family run from the Kriegerhorn toward Oberlech.
Murmeli
Adored by locals, this little-known gem serves excellent food in a dining room with panoramic views of the surrounding region. In the summer, reserve a table on the terrace.
Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel
This gourmet hotel in Zug offers a number of dining options ranging from its traditional fondue spot, Stuben, to its sophisticated take on Alpine food at Rote Wand and its gastronomic Chef’s Table, which serves 19 courses to only 14 diners nightly.

Housed in a contemporary wooden barn, Schneggarei is a fun bar at the bottom of the main lift in Lech. The pizza is a particular favorite.
