After opening in 2013, Labstelle quickly garnered much press attention and a loyal following of foodies. The quirky but charming courtyard, featuring floating Japanese umbrellas and gnome figurines on each table, is the ideal spot to sample their various dishes. The rotating menu of “breads and spreads” is popular, and complements dishes like paprika chicken with butter dumplings and zucchini blossoms with polenta and carrot cream. Service can be slow, a not uncommon phenomenon in Viennese restaurants, where locals view mealtime as a chance to stop for a breather during a busy day.
