Review

The 38-room Nimb is the product of a stunning transformation of the so-called Bazaar, a whimsical building with a Moorish-inspired façade, into a boutique hotel and culinary destination, with several restaurants and a gourmet market. It’s also a child’s wildest dream come true: the hotel is located within the city’s Tivoli Gardens, and guests not only get to overlook the fabled amusement park, but they also receive complimentary access to all the rides.

Complete with slender turrets, a central tower and arched doorways, the castle-like structure may look like something out of Arabian Nights from the outside, but the sleek, understated interiors are anything but over-the-top. Every room is unique, with well-chosen antiques (like an Apothecary cabinet), fireplaces, dark-wood floors, an elegant color palette and splashy fabrics that add color to the tableau. The wing that opened in 2017, including 20 suites, is the area to request, as accommodations feel bright, fresh and stylish. All rooms have bathtubs and showers.

For dining, the sleek and upscaleNimb Brasserie is housed in a bright space centered around an open kitchen, so diners can watch the chefs at work and at the same time have views over the garden’s main concert stage. Meanwhile, Fru Nimb serves the Danish specialty of open-faced sandwiches. Vegetarian fine-dining venue Gemyse, located within the Tivoli Gardens, is an ideal lunch spot. Also located within Tivoli is Cakenhagen, a cute spot for cake, buns and champagne. The Nimb Bar on the second floor is straight out of a past era—once a club, it served as an escape from the war for patrons in the 40s. It has ample seating, high ceilings and black sketches painted on the wall, but the highlights of the space are the sleek black piano and a beautiful gold and glass bar with coffee machine that looks more like a work of art (or a spaceship!).

There is also a flowershop on premises where guests (and locals) can buy florals and see the hotel’s florist make their exceptional arrangements.

Guests have access to a fitness center (including a CrossFit studio with classes), a small yet tranquil Wellness Center and a stunning rooftop pool offering an ideal escape on warm days.
