Common spaces make use of luxurious textures, bold accents and delicate furnishings. High ceilings and natural light create a bright and cheery atmosphere. Review

With a central location between Knightsbridge and Hyde Park, the Regency-style Lanesborough Hotel was originally built in 1719 as private apartments, and was later rebuilt as a hospital in 1827. Today, the property maintains a residential feel with a grand common corridor and sequestered dining and living rooms that allow for intimacy and comfort. Each common space is unique, inspired and fastidious in its design approach, making use of the most luxurious textures, bold, hand-painted accents and delicate furnishings. High ceilings and natural light create a bright and cheery atmosphere that appeases those seeking a discreet respite full of grandeur as much as those looking for the ease and relaxation of home.

Each of the 93 rooms and suites have a small entrance foyer and sitting area, in line with the hotel’s residential vision. All are equipped with rich linens, fabrics, mirrors and carpets. Rooms feature traditional Regency-style color patterns in varying shades of blue, green and yellow. Beautifully restored, hand-cut Italian marble bathrooms feature double vanities and are equipped with separate bath and overhead shower. Upper-level suites are expansive with separate lounge and dining spaces and handcrafted furnishings, and while junior suites run on the smaller size, their beautiful décor more than makes up for it. That being said, avoid entry-level rooms if you want space for lounging.

Even more remarkable is the property’s dedication to five-star service. Every room is allocated a personal butler, who remains at the beck and call of the guest. Upon arrival, said butler escorts guests to their room or suite, acquaints them with the in-room and hotel facilities, assists with unpacking and tends to any request day and night. The Lanesborough’s tenured concierge team caters to every individual arrangement with swiftness and expertise.

The hotel’s main restaurant, the Lanesborough Grill, has a grand dining room, helmed by chef Shay Cooper who has crafted a menu of modern, seasonal British cuisine. Guests can enjoy traditional afternoon tea or a drink in the inviting Withdrawing Room, featuring hand-painted trompe l’oeil marbling and warm gold and green color schemes. Each table is equipped with a service bell, assuring that every want is promptly met. One of the hotel's more stunning rooms, the Library Bar boasts bookcases filled with leather-bound volumes, wood-paneled walls illuminated by discreet accent lights and private corners filled with sofas and wing-chairs, creating the ultimate gentleman’s club–like ambience (complete with pianist and working fireplace in the background). Cigar aficionados cannot miss The Garden Room, a low-lit, heated cigar terrace that has the feel of an enclosed room thanks to a fireplace and overhead heaters, an oak-paneled ceiling and sturdy leather armchairs.

The Lanesborough also has a club and spa next door to the hotel. The glamorous facility includes a sleek workout room with state-of-the-art equipment, a group workout room, indoor hydrotherapy pool, luxe dressing rooms (each with their own spa butler) and healthy spa restaurant.
