The former private home of British architect Sir John Soane continues to be an inspiration for designers around the world, thanks to its whimsical multi-level interiors, which have been left almost exactly as they were when Soane died in 1854. An avid collector of art and sculpture, Soane, who was a Neo-Classical architect best known for the Bank of England, filled his picture gallery to the brim, with such works as William Hogarth’s satirical series The Rake’s Progress. There are also sculptures, antiquities and architectural drawings on display.
