From Richard Caring of Caprice Holdings, Sexy Fish was one of the most talked-about—and polarizing—restaurants to open in London in years. There is nothing fashionably pared-back or understated about this lavishly decorated and ludicrously named bunker (formerly a bank branch). Instead, it’s all 1980s decadence, gold ceilings and showy Damien Hirst and Frank Gehry artwork, along with the distinct whiff of a Bond villain’s lair. The Asian fusion menu including tempura, venison carpaccio, robata-grilled fish and maple-glazed pork belly is well-executed, crowd-pleasing stuff, but the food inevitably slips into the background, as the swanky surroundings, very loud atmosphere and starry crowd steal the show.
Note: The last booking that can be made with children is 7pm. After 9pm, children cannot be in the venue.
