Portobello Road Market

One of the most famous street markets in the world, Portobello Market, runs almost two full miles along Portobello Road in London’s Notting Hill. On Saturdays it’s a riot of antiques, clothing and food stalls and is the ideal place to roll up your sleeves and unearth that perfect find. While there are sections where dealers sell vegetables and new fashions, the antiques dealers, who congregate on the half-mile stretch between Chepstow Villas and Elgin Crescent, are the real draw. They begin setting up their wares on Saturday mornings at 6 a.m. but if you come by 8:30, you will still beat the crowds. Some dealers sell through the week but for the best selection come on Saturday.
