Review

William Waldorf Astor’s eccentric yet exquisitely refined taste has lasted decades at the opulent 19th century Cliveden House. The property's immaculate Italian revival design and stunning artisan works make Cliveden perhaps the finest country house hotel experience in Great Britain.

Located 20 minutes west of Heathrow airport, Cliveden is the perfect retreat for an overnight at the beginning or end of a UK or greater European trip. Guests can enjoy the pampering spa, cruise along the Thames in a vintage flotilla or simply explore the vast, 376-acre estate. The hotel boasts two dining options—the award-winning Andre Garrett Restaurant located in the stately, formal dining room and the more casual Astor Grill that serves classic American and British dishes.

Room and suites are tastefully decorated with traditional wallpapers, elegant fabrics and comfortable furnishings and marble bathrooms with claw foot tubs. The spa includes both indoor and outdoor heated pools, multiple treatment rooms and a large fitness center.

Who Should Stay

Repeat visitors to the United Kingdom looking for either an elegant arrival or departure. Couples seeking a memorable, romantic experience in the breathtaking English countryside without venturing too far from London.
