Chalet Refuge de Lognan

Accessible only from black runs or from Grands Montet’s midstation, the rustic Chalet Refuge de Lognan is perched atop Grands Montets mountain. The mountain restaurant serves local favorites, including delicious coffee and homemade cake. It’s a popular choice, so it’s recommended to book a table for lunch in advance to beat the rush.

La Cabane des Praz

Tucked into a chic chalet, La Cabane des Praz serves traditional, hearty French food with sweeping views of Mont Blanc. Perfect for lunch, dinner or leisurely après-ski tea, the restaurant has an expansive terrace that is frequented in the summer and on sunny winter days. Vegetarians beware: the menu is heavy on meat and game, with selections ranging from carpaccio of half-cooked deer to lamb cutlets—we spied only one vegetarian option.

Le Cap Horn

The third in the trio of restaurants owned by local celebrity restaurateurs, Le Cap Horn is tucked away on the meandering Rue des Moulin, the main artery of Chamonix. The sprawling space consists of multiple nooks and crannies, all outfitted with shipping décor and Antarctica references décor, and the menu emphasizes seafood. Despite this curious emphasis on the sea in a landlocked region of the French Alps, the space is cozy and the atmosphere is hopping. After dinner, head downstairs to Les Caves, a popular late night spot.

Le Restaurant de l'Hotel Mont-Blanc

With modern, cushy interiors and an innovative menu, the relatively new restaurant at the Hotel Mont-Blanc is among the finest dining options in Chamonix. Seating in the red-hued dining room is configured around a roaring fireplace and the adjacent bar lounge serves a more casual menu of salads, sandwiches and cocktails.

Monkey

Quirky and loud, Monkey is Gallic cool done exactly right. The perfect place to bring kids (who will certainly love the in-house ping pong tables and live music), this dive is all about pure fun. The menu isn’t the most elevated (think gourmet burgers), but the selection of craft beers and rollicking ambiance makes up for it.
