Since the Chamonix valley is so spread out, skiers will typically have lunch and daytime snacks at mountain refuges perched throughout the regions, rather than return to the village center. Some refuges are better than others (of note are Chalet Refuge de Lognan in Argentière and Bergerie in Brévent), but most let their skiing plans dictate their lunch destination. Dinner, on the other hand, is typically a sit-down affair in Chamonix village and there are many options ranging from casual to ultra-refined. Plan for at least one meal to consist of fondue or raclette, cheese specialties of the region.
