Member Postcard: Summer in the South of France

We had a fabulous time! We loved Le Mas de Pierre; it was quiet, elegant and boasts spacious rooms. The staff was excellent and very helpful. One night, we ate at the hotel, which was great, and another night we went to Le Tilleul, which was fun. We had a drink at the bar at La Colombe d’Or, which was perfect. The first day we visited the Fondation Maeght museum and the Matisse Chapel (466 Avenue Henri Matisse). The next day we went to the town of Biot to the glass factory (5 Chemin des Combes), which I could have skipped, and then drove to Antibes to the Picasso Museum, which was unbelievable. On our last day, en route to St. Tropez, we stopped at Cannes, which was good to check out.

We loved Le Yaca Hotel. It had a really great location and was very charming and cool, with an excellent staff (hotel-le-yaca.fr). One day we went to Le Club 55, which was super crowded, and the rest of the time we went to Tahiti (Quartier du Pinet, plage de Tahiti), which we really liked (excellent food, a little calmer and more space than 55). We also took a day trip to Le Lavandou and rented jet skis, which was fun.

We loved St. Tropez. It was so charming and clean, and people were so nice. The area wasn’t super crowded either. Shopping, of course, was beyond. Two places I might mention are LuLu St Tropez (6 Rue Victor Laugier) and Mission Accomplie, where I bought a great dress. A lot of the stores have a similar look, so I liked those two especially.

For dinners, we loved La Bouillabaisse (Départementale 98A, Quartier de la Bouillabaisse) right on the beach and L’Auberge des Maures, which was kind of old-school but has delicious food. We loved Le Banh-Hoï the first night, and we also went to La Ferme Ladouceur outside of town, a vineyard with no menu and good home cooking with a great view of the farm (fermeladouceur.com).
