For a Michelin-starred meal in a country-chic atmosphere, Les Hauts de Loire’s restaurant is a good option between the towns of Blois and Amboise. It is one of the few local eateries to serve fish and eel from the Loire River, as only a few fisherman have permits to catch in the river (this is in order to preserve a native fish species called cendre). The family-run restaurant hosts twice-weekly cooking classes followed by lunch in the chef’s kitchen, and there is a 40-minute children’s pastry class on Sundays.
