Mother-Daughter Trip to Paris

Indagare member Noelle Doumar and her daughter recently returned from Paris. Here are her impressions from the trip.

We had a great shopping trip to Paris. We stayed at the Grand Hotel du Palais Royal, which was a terrific value and our room was very charming, with a lovely view of the courtyard.

My teenage daughter, who is better skilled with iPhone technology than myself, had programmed all the clothing stores she wanted to go to (including all of Melissa's suggestions) into a mapping application. The GPS was very helpful and made it easy for us to walk or take the metro almost everywhere. After checking in to the hotel, we meandered over to Rue de Marseille and went to Maje (6 Rue du Cherche Midi), Claudie Pierlot (6 Rue de Marseille) and Les Petites (11 Rue de Marseille). We then found a few more stores on Rue Beaurepaire including Atelier Beaurepaire (28 Rue Beaurepaire), which makes brightly patterned unisex trousers.

That evening, we walked through the Palais Royal to Relais de Entrecôte in St. Germain de Pres, where we enjoyed a lovely dinner. We had a very nice table and meal.

The next day we planned to continue shopping with a quick visit to the Louvre since it is so close to the hotel. We took the metro to the Marais district and crisscrossed it all day, going from store to store. We happened on a private sale for Les Petites, which was held in a building near the Picasso Museum. We also visited Zadig & Voltaire (118 Rue Vieille du Temple), Sandro (109 Boulevard Beaumarchais) and many concept stores. After, we headed over to Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré to Colette and Comme des Garçons (31 Rue Debelleyme).

We discovered a wonderful little soba noodle bar, Sara (8 Rue de Ventadour), a few blocks from the museum. The restaurant was busy with Japanese businessmen eating at a communal table. We had a delicious snack of edamame and ebi tempura soba and then made our way back to the hotel.

All in all, we had a very fun trip to Paris!
