The permanent collection of this museum dedicated to art of the Romantic era includes works by Delacroix and Ingres, but the most attention is given to the novelist George Sand. The 1830 hotel particulier is the former home of Dutch-born painter Ary Scheffer (a prominent artist of his time) and its leafy courtyard makes a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.
