A little pocket in an offbeat neighborhood close to Bastille, Mokonuts is a roaring success for its superb home-cooked food. The pair of chef owners, wife and husband Moko Hirayama prepare dishes that feel familiar enough to most diners to create a comforting experience. A great stop for lunch, Mokonuts offers dishes like yogurt with kumquats, broccoli salad with labneh and tahini and meatballs with focaccia, as well as perhaps the best gooey chocolate chip or miso-sesame cookies in Paris. They have since opened Mokoloco, a five-minute walk away, which hosts creative young chef residencies.
