Antoinette Poisson, Rue Saint Sabin, Paris, France
This cult brand of wallpapers, fabrics, stationery and now tableware was founded by two restorers, Vincent Farrely and Jean-Baptiste Martin, who stumbled upon an ancient printing technique known as domino paper. They decided to revive the craft and a brand was born that has expanded into an aesthetic kingdom of sorts. They decided to name their brand for the Marquise de Pompadour, née Antoinette Poisson, who was obsessed with art and beauty. Their signature domino papers and 18th-century-inspired botanical fabrics can now be found in stylish houses, hotels and shops around the globe, but design lovers should make the pilgrimage to their boutique in the 11th arrondissement to see the full range of products or to discuss a custom project.
