Review

The Mandarin Oriental, Paris is located on the corner of Rue St-Honoré and the Place Vendôme, right in the heart of the city’s best shopping. While offering a fantastic location, this hotel also feels wonderfully removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Art Deco eight-story building has 135 rooms, including 39 spacious suites all situated around a lush central courtyard. The room décor consists of neutral, but warm colors, with varying accents of purple and floral designs. Many rooms and suites come with an outdoor terrace or private balcony, while all have floor-to-ceiling windows. The array of room sizes and layouts makes the hotel a great option for couples, families and business travelers. Common spaces are adorned with original art, including the airy lobby with Swarovski crystal butterflies floating down from the ceiling.

For all-day dining, guests can visit Camélia for eco-conscious French fare, while the standout is the Michelin-starred Thierry Marx’s Sur Mesure restaurant on the hotel’s ground floor (which draws crowds). For lighter bites, Bar 8 serves cocktails and snacks late into the night and the Cake Shop is the perfect stop for those with a sweet tooth (a variety of pastries and baked goods are served, along with it's namesake). In-Room dining from Chef Thierry Marx is also available. The award-winning Spa at Mandarin Oriental Paris is complete with an underground swimming pool, fitness center and treatment areas with their own steam rooms. Packages and standalone signature treatments are available.

While the seating areas around the lobby tend to be filled with business professionals, the vibe remains (mostly) quiet in keeping with a sense of discrete luxury.

Who Should Stay

Those who value a great location for shopping and light and spacious rooms. Those who are concerned with traditional Parisian decor should look elsewhere.
