Review

Occupying an 18th-century building that was once the home of an advisor to Louis XV, the trendy Hoxton Paris boasts a stunning Rococo façade, but once guests venture through the doors, a contemporary-chic aesthetic takes over. After several years of renovations, this hip hideaway opened in 2017 and immediately became a hot spot for stylish locals and travelers thanks to its high-design public spaces and shockingly low room rates. In fact, the focus here seems to be more on socializing than sleeping; hotel guests have to walk through several gorgeous spaces, including a glass-enclosed courtyard with a restored 300-year-old spiral staircase and a winter garden with a full wall of greenery, to reach the reception.

The 172 rooms at the Hoxton boast industrial-chic décor including chevron wooden floors, woven metal partitions, tiled bathrooms and antique-inspired furnishings. Accommodations on the top floor have an extra historic touch: exposed wooden beams. While there is no room service, guests receive a complimentary breakfast bag in the morning filled with yogurt, granola, bananas and orange juice.

On any day of the week, the Hoxton’s public spaces buzz with beautiful people working, drinking and lounging. The entryway and lounge boast jewel-toned velvet armchairs for relaxing with a coffee or cocktail, whereas the all-day French brasserie, Rivié, offers cuisine like steak tartare and cheeseburgers. While cocktails are served in almost every nook of the hotel, the Jacques’ Bar is worth seeking out for its stylish speakeasy setting and craft cocktails. There is no gym or spa at the hotel, but the front desk can provide discounted passes to a nearby fitness facility.
