    3 Days: Essential Hamburg

The second biggest port in Europe, Hamburg boast myriad attractions with a rich music and arts scene, fascinating history and beautiful outdoors space to keep all visitors entertained. Indagare can arrange a customized itinerary with guided touring, boat cruises and special access. Here’s just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1

Get your bearings by strolling the shops around the Binnealster and meandering along the shopping avenues of Neuerwall, Jungfrausteig and the Colonnaden arcade. In the late afternoon, Indagare can arrange a private boat cruise on the Elbe River to see the city from the water and the famous port. In the evening, attend a performance at the impressive Elbphilharmonie, where Indagare can arrange special tickets and behind-the-scenes access. Walk back to your hotel along the Speicherstadt canals which are beautifully illuminated at night.

    • Day 2

In the morning, take a music tour to trace the steps of some of the world’s most famed composers. End your tour at St. Michaels Church, an opulent Baroque cathedral. Later, visit the impressive Kunsthalle art museum or the photography hall Deichtorhallen with an art historian or curator. If traveling with young children, go to see the model trains at Miniatur Wunderland in Speicherstadt. In the afternoon, wander around Karolinenviertel and Schanzenviertel, home to local designer ateliers, cool concept stores and international cafés.

    • Day 3

Spend the morning at leisure by Lake Alster. Take a cruise, go out on paddleboats or a sailboat or walk around the leafy path that rings the water. Stop at the contemporary Fontenay hotel for lunch. After lunch, take a cab to the well-heeled suburb of Eppendorf. Like New York’s Upper East Side, this leafy neighborhood has beautiful wide streets, elegant architecture and chic shops. Peruse the boutiques and grab a mid-afternoon snack and coffee at the lovely Lindtner Bakery.

“A performance at the Elbphilharmonie is a must for any visitor to Hamburg. Besides hosting world-class musicians, the music hall is an architectural marvel, with a dramatic design that echoes the city’s harmony of old and new.”
