A tiny, crooked brick cottage on one of Hamburg’s canals, this charming spot is a momento of Hamburg’s maritime heritage. Canteens were popular with those who worked at the warehouses along the port and would come for a hearty meal of smoked fish and sausages typically washed down with a pint of beer. Not much has changed at this canteen where guests cram into the snug hut for a traditional meal of meatballs, bratwurst, burgers, smoked fish and potato soup.
