Cyclades Route

Embarking from Mykonos, this five-to-seven-day cruise is best for those seeking beautiful scenery and lots of glamour. Begin in Paros, a gorgeous island famous for its marble and host of numerous cultural events that attract a global audience, including artists. Next, sail to tiny, less-touristed Antiparos, which boasts lovely green and blue water, pristine beaches and stunning stalagmite caves. Farther west is Naxos, grander but also relatively unvisited, renowned for its varied landscapes, including rocky peaks, and whitewashed villages. We recommend biking to see the temple of Demeter and arranging a meeting with a local potter to learn about ancient ceramic methods. Then travel south to the Koufonisia islands, to swim in crystal-clear water and sample local specialties. Your final stop is Ios, anauthentic Cycladic retreat, which despite its party reputation, has much to offer both families and couples, including gorgeous beaches and traditional Aegean hilltop towns.Related: Which Island is Right For Me: Greek Isles

Argosaronic Gulf Route

Embarking from the coast of Attica west of Athens, this cruise offers the opportunity to see a multitude of classical sites, plus mainland excursions. First, visit Sounio to see the famous marble Temple of Poseidon. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea, it has served as a landmark for mariners since ancient times. Next, sail to Hydra, famous for its impressive clock tower and beautiful old mansions, and hike to the old castle town to take in stunning panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf. Travel west to the historic seaport town of Nafplio, on the mainland in the Peloponnese, which is filled with grand monuments and other sights dating to ancient and medieval times, including Greece’s first parliament.A short drive brings you to Mycenae, the “golden city” of Bronze Age Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From there, sail to Spetses, a quintessential Grecian isle that retains much of the old-world elegance of its heyday as an important maritime trading center. Head north to Poros, a gorgeous haven of pine forests and small bays with emerald water. Finally, sail to Epidauros, on the Argolid Peninsula, to tour the famed ancient theater and learn its history.Related: Just Back From...Cruising the Greek Isles
