Cavo Barbaro Tavern
This beachside restaurant on the northeastern side of Corfu (an hour’s drive from town) is a wonderful choice for lunch if exploring the farther reaches of the island. Dine on fresh seafood and Greek specialties under the leafy portico after swimming in the clear, aquamarine waters of the pebble beach.
La Cucina
If you’re tired of gyros and seafood, head to Corfu Town for some delicious pizza. The thin-crust pies here are almost as good as what you’ll find in Italy.
REX
Located on a main thoroughfare in Corfu Town, Rex offers great people-watching (a recent visit included a sighting of Pierce Brosnan at lunch). This family-run restaurant has been in business since the 1930s and has continually been popular with both locals and visitors. If you’re in the mood to sample Corfiot specialties such as pastisado (a form of osso bucco served with spaghetti), this is the place to do it in style.
Spyros & Vasilis
Set in a rural village in central Corfu, Spiros & Vasilis is an award-winning restaurant that serves primarily French food (the owner trained in France) Alongside such dishes as omelets and crème caramel, Greek dishes are offered like souvlaki. Request a table in the garden.
Taverna Koloura
Located on a small, quiet bay on the northern side of the island, this family-owned restaurant provides an authentic Greek tavern experience. Diners can choose from the day’s catch (priced by weight) and kick back on a small, shaded patio facing the sea. Be sure to walk down the path to see the small Greek Orthodox Church.
