Located on the eastern coast of Greece’s Peloponnese, Amanzoe has been regarded as the most luxurious hotel in the country since opening in 2012, but a recent art installation is making it a destination known for its contemporary art as well. James Turrell, the American artist famous for light installations like Arizona’s Roden Crater, among others, has just unveiled Sky Plain, a permanent work meant to inspire peace through light that is located at Villa 31. A daring light installation, the immersive piece is comprised of a 20-foot by 20-foot square building with a gaping opening in the ceiling. Lucky residents at the one-bedroom villa, which also boasts a 72-foot pool, can appreciate the installation at all hours, whereas other guests staying at the hotel can observe it during special dinners when the villa is not being rented.

The rest of Amanzoe is equally stunning, having been designed by architect Ed Tuttle, who took the ancient Greek aesthetic and Aman-ifyed it in a way that blends harmoniously with the surrounding environment. In addition to the 38 palatial villas, there is even a stunning beach club and an authentic Greek amphitheater, where open-air music shows and dance performances are staged throughout the summer.
