This elegant boutique property is perfectly situated beside the entrance of Oia town, steps away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist-filled pedestrian streets. Its location makes for stunning views: on one side of Imerovigli town and the surrounding volcanic islands in the distance, and on the other, sparkling white Oia resting above brown cliffs and a deep blue caldera.

There are two Canaves properties in Oia, the Hotel was the first, built by a local family in 1983. Today, it houses 17 rooms and suites. The other part is called Suites, located a two-minute walk from the Hotel, which boasts the more luxurious accommodations (in all 24 suites and 1 villa), with Jacuzzis or plunge pools. A recent 2011 renovation of Suites outfitted all accommodations with larger, more modern bathrooms.

Canaves Hotel can be considered a smaller boutique property with limited amenities. You'll find an intimate lobby and small pool and bar area where guests can enjoy breakfast, cocktails and snacks, while Canaves Suites have a larger pool area with the stunning views of Oia and a restaurant where dining is offered all day.

Suites has a very small, one-room gym with a few machines and a respectable selection of free weights. Plans are underway for additional suites and a small spa below the pool deck. While families traveling with children 16 and over are accepted, the crowd is mostly couples or honeymooners, and the vibe is serene, relaxed and sophisticated.
