  • 3 Days: Essential Dublin-LP

    3 Days: Essential Dublin

The city on the River Liffey was founded in 841 AD and was ruled by everyone from the Vikings to the Danes to the English until Irish independence was finally won in 1922. Dublin today is a picture of Medieval architecture and mannerisms mingling with 19th-century vestiges and modern-day extravagances. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1: Cultural Sites

Begin with a visit to the picturesque Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, and see its biggest attraction: the library, which houses the Book of Kells, a famous illuminated manuscript from 800 AD. Then, tour the National Museum of Ireland, boasting one of the best collections of Irish art in the world. Afterwards, head to the Guinness Storehouse in the heart of old Dublin, where you can conclude your tour with a complimentary pint at The Gravity Bar on the seventh floor, which offers a panoramic view of the city.

    • Day 2: Tour Options

Soak in the incredible Gothic architecture of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral before spending an afternoon tailored to your interests. Shop at some of Indagare’s favorite stores, enjoy a drink and a traditional Irish music and dance show at one of the country’s oldest pubs, tour the 2,000-acre Phoenix Park, stroll the medieval neighborhood of Temple Bar or take a guided trip to Dublin Castle, the former seat of British power in Ireland.

    • Day 3: Seaside Excursion

To experience another side of Ireland, take a trip to the seaside town of Malahide, where the 12th-century castle is one of the oldest continuously inhabited castles in the country and is surrounded by one of the top botanical gardens in Ireland. The village of Malahide is a short walk from the estate, where you can explore the town and beach. For more time by the water, continue further down the coast to the charming fishing village of Howth.

"Ireland was a perfect choice for a quick family getaway—close enough while still feeling far away. I will definitely stay at the Merrion again, which I loved. Also, the Winding Stair was a great choice for for dinner. It's got a cool local vibe, interesting history and really good food."

“A relatively small and extremely walkable—or bike-able—city, Dublin’s hodgepodge cityscape consists of Georgian townhouses sitting alongside contemporary architecture and Victorian era docklands. With its influx of energy and wealth, the city seems to be returning to its roots as a creative hub (it was home to Oscar Wilde and James Joyce) with a punchy underbelly (Michael Collins and Bono are from here too.)”
