Ireland, a country of lush landscapes and glorious gardens, is especially beautiful in the month of June. With author and lecturer Olivier Bernier, we invite our members to experience this extraordinary trip, which begins in the charming village of Adare, then continues to the shores of Lough Erne, and concludes in Dublin, one of the handsomest cities in Europe.
What to Expect
Our many private visits are spread throughout the trip. From great houses like Birr Castle, home to the Earl and Countess of Rosse, to Baron’s Court, where the Duke and Duchess of Abercorn have invited us for dinner, every day will bring an unexpected pleasure.
Then in Dublin, that still-unspoiled city, we will stay at the lovely Merrion Hotel, in the heart of the city. Adrian Le Harivel, chief curator of British Art at the National Gallery of Ireland, will show us the best of the current hangings. There will also be a visit to the National Museum of Ireland’s Archaeology department, with its famous Celtic gold collection, and at National Museum of Ireland’s Decorative Arts & History branch, we will see the extraordinary quality of Irish silver and furniture.
