Ciasa Salares
Nestled on the edge of the Alta Badia ski resort, Ciasa Salares is a four-star property with five star service and cuisine.
Cristallo
Those who cannot live without such amenities as a large indoor pool, spa treatments and twenty-four-hour room service should book at the recently restored Cristallo, Cortina’s only true five-star property, which has splendid views of the mountains. With their hand-painted ceilings and tasteful décor, the seventy-three rooms exude an elegance reminiscent of the early 1900s when the hotel opened. Modern updates include large marble bathrooms, high-speed Internet connection and in-room Jacuzzi whirlpools. At the end of an active day, guests love going to the state-of-the-art Transvital beauty center. (Be aware that since the Cristallo is a short distance away, it’s advisable to have a car when staying here; otherwise you need to wait for the shuttle to the slopes and town.)

Gardena Grödnerhof Hotel & Spa
Hotel Ancora
Those craving a feminine touch should stay at this lovely forty-nine-room hotel, located directly on Cortina’s main street, Corso Italia. Co-owner Flavia Sartor’s passion is antiques, her family’s business since the 18th century, and it shows in such decorations as an intricately carved 16th-century ceiling panel and hand-blown Venetian chandeliers. The Ancora is one of Cortina’s oldest hotels, but its rooms are up-to-date as well as charming. No two are alike: Suite 88 has a king-sized bed built into a hand-painted alcove, and spacious Suite 108/109, on the top floor, has terrific views. Sartor is also as connected as any concierge; if she can’t get you a reservation at a booked-up restaurant, no one can.
Hotel de la Poste
Located in a yellow chalet in the town’s center, the Posta (so called because it was once a post office) has been a Cortina institution since 1835. With its dark wood-paneled bar and somber common spaces, the Posta feels like a gentlemen’s club of the past. (Fittingly, one of the hotel’s most illustrious former guests was Ernest Hemingway, who stayed in the 1930s.) Some of the seventy-six rooms are small, but the coziness is appropriate for a ski chalet; plus, those with balconies have cinematic views. Be sure to reserve well in advance: the Posta fills up quickly.
Rosa Alpina, an Aman Partner Hotel
