This venerable pastry shop opened in 1824 and was known for its homemade candies, chocolates and pralines—but when it was in danger of closing, Miuccia Prada scooped it up, effectively giving a great institution back to its native city. Prada promptly opened a flashier branch on Via Montenapoleone, in addition to a location in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but the original, historic shop, with its elegant chocolate-brown façade, is in walking distance to Santa Maria delle Grazie (home of da Vinci's The Last Supper) and makes a good pit-stop for an espresso (standing room only). The colorful, elegantly boxed candies make fabulous mementos to bring home.
