Laboratorio Paravicini

Via Nerino 8, Milan, Italy

This ceramic laboratory, set in a tiny courtyard, is a special oasis where Costanza Paravicini has been hand-painting thin ceramic dishes, tea sets and vases for more than 25 years. She and her daughter, Benedetta Medici, create collections every year for the Salone dei Mobile, but the majority of the ceramics produced here are for custom orders. Dinner sets may be created around a family crest, monogram or image of residence or landscape. Each piece is painted by hand and can take up to 10 hours to make, but the focus is on decorative and functional settings, so the ceramics are thin but not too formal or fussy.
