Quiet but powerful, crumbling yet proud, Venice continues to cast a captivating spell. The moment your water taxi turns into the Grand Canal and the faded, pastel-colored palazzi rise from the lagoon like pillars of another era is always breathtaking, whether it’s your first or 15th visit to Italy’s fabled city.

Day 1: Historic Center & Canals

Upon arrival in Venice, take in all the sites surrounding the Piazza San Marco, including the Basilica, Clock Tower and Doge’s Palace. After an al fresco lunch and obligatory gelato, spend the afternoon floating on the city’s famous canals with a gondola tour, and Indagare can arrange a private Venetian rowing lesson. End the night on the terrace of a restaurant with stunning views of the city and water.

    Member Stories

“The guide Indagare arranged for us was excellent. She took us through the Biennale and told us her thoughts on the best non-Giardini/Arsenale exhibitions. She also made sure that our tour of Basilica of St. Mark coincided with the daily hour the lights are turned on to highlight the mosaics.” Read the postcard.

“It was love at first sight when I arrived at 16 on a Riva water taxi and saw her domes and towers rising from the water like a dream, and though I have visited many times since, her beauty still takes my breath away.” Read the article.

“I get to Venice every other year, where I opt for the grandeur of the Gritti Palace or the Danieli—the gilded glamour of each feels appropriate in the picturesque city.” Read the interview.
