Review
The principality’s newest resort hotel, opened in 2005 and renovated in 2011, this €50 million eleven-story extravaganza was built on 10 acres of the glitzy Larvotto coastal strip next door to the landmark disco Jimmy’z. It is an ideal place to stay with children or young adults.
Don’t be put off by its 1930s look and Disneyland-like diversity. The Mediterranean village–style property includes four different restaurants, botanical gardens connected by little bridges and a casino with the latest high-tech slot machines. In addition are souvenir and sportswear boutiques, a private dock and helipad. There are two pools, one an impressive artificial sand-bottom lagoon.
Guest rooms are a blend of dark wood furnishings, duvet-covered beds, giant plasma-screen interactive TVs and spacious white bathrooms, plus nearly all have private sea-view terraces. Add in a friendly, ever-professional staff, the exotic Blue Bay restaurant and the Cinq Mondes spa, and you have a modern alternative that provides a younger, more contemporary option to the more Old World properties.
